Nigeria’s Super Falcons wrapped up their preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a commanding 3-1 victory over rivals Ghana in a friendly match played on Sunday in Casablanca, Morocco.

The nine-time African champions asserted their dominance early, taking the lead in the 34th minute through Chinwendu Ihezuo. Star striker Asisat Oshoala doubled Nigeria’s advantage ten minutes later from the penalty spot.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade added a third five minutes into the second half, sealing an impressive team performance. Although the Black Queens managed a late consolation goal in the 88th minute, it was not enough to threaten Nigeria’s control of the match.

The game marked the Super Falcons’ final tune-up ahead of the WAFCON tournament, which kicks off on July 5 in Morocco. Just days earlier, Nigeria played out a goalless draw against Portugal in another warm-up fixture.

Nigeria are drawn in Group B, where they will face Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria. Their first match is against Tunisia on Sunday, July 7. The Falcons are aiming to secure a record-extending 10th continental title.
