The match was coach Randy Waldrum’s first game back in charge of the team after last year’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, where the Super Falcons reached the Round of 16. The likes of Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade and Alozie were some of the big names that started the match against Cameroon.

The Second Leg will be played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Monday, February 26th, 2024. In the other qualifier, Reigning African Champions, South Africa defeated Tanzania 3-0 to have a first-leg advantage. The overall winner between Nigeria and Cameroon will advance to the next round of qualification where they will play the winner between South Africa and Tanzania to book a place in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
