English Premier League: Iwobi and Bassey Scores as Fulham Beats Manchester United

Nigerian duo of Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi was on the score sheet as Fulham defeated Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Both players were in action in the recently concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations for Nigeria in Ivory Coast played the full 90 minutes to beat Erik Ten Hag’side since their last win over Manchester United was in December 2009. Fulham took the lead in the 65th minute as Calvin Bassey volleyed the ball past Cameroon and Manchester United Goalkeeper, Andre Onana to give his team the lead.

England and Manchester United Defender, Harry Maguire equalized in the 89th minute to Keep Manchester United in the game. Referee, Paul Tierney added ten minutes after regulation time as both sides continued to search for the winning goal. In the 97th minute, Substitute, Adama Traore dribbled past Harry Maguire before releasing the pass to Alex Iwobi who curled the ball past the goalkeeper to give Fulham a 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

In another English Premier League Fixture, Taiwo Awoiyi ‘s assist was not enough as Nottingham Forest lost to Aston Villa 4-2 at the Villa Park. The Super Eagles forward was replaced before the start of the second half. The loss sees Nottingham Forest just four points above the relegation zone.
