Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, met with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, to discuss enhancing cooperative relations between the two countries.
The meeting focused on supporting joint mediation efforts to end the war in Gaza, ensuring protection of civilians, securing the release of prisoners and detainees, and facilitating humanitarian aid.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to elevating Qatar-Egypt relations to broader horizons of cooperation and partnership.
They also discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest, including developments in the Palestinian territories.
The Qatari Prime Minister emphasized the importance of continued joint efforts to reach a solution that ends the war on Gaza, despite efforts to derail these initiatives.
The meeting is part of the sixth session of the Egyptian-Qatari Joint Higher Committee, which witnessed the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding.
These include a cooperation agreement in social insurance and a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the agricultural sector.
The committee’s discussions covered various files and issues, confirming the alignment of views between Qatar and Egypt on many regional matters.
