Thousands of residents, well-wishers, dignitaries, and eminent Nigerians have gathered at Mapo Hall in Ibadan for the coronation of Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The event, which promises to be a grand celebration of Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage, has drawn prominent figures, including President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III.
Security is tight, with over 2,000 personnel from the police, Army, NSCDC, and local security deployed to maintain peace and orderliness.
The coronation ceremony is part of a week-long series of events that began on September 22, featuring interfaith prayers, cultural festivities, and a scholarly lecture by Professor Toyin Falola.
The Olubadan stool represents unity, cultural pride, and resilience among the people of Ibadanland.
Oba Ladoja’s ascension to the throne is seen as a fusion of modern leadership and ancient tradition, and his wealth of experience as a senator, governor, and businessman is expected to bring progress and prosperity to Ibadanland.
