The Igbo communities in Canada have called on President Bola Tinubu to order the immediate and unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), citing his worsening health condition and the deteriorating security situation in the South-East region.
According to the group, Kanu’s health has continued to deteriorate while in detention, with multiple medical specialists confirming his poor health.
The communities believe that releasing Kanu would help restore calm and reconciliation in the region, fostering peace and harmony in Igboland.
They expressed deep concern over Kanu’s prolonged detention in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), where he has spent over four years, and urged the Federal Government to intervene compassionately.
