The National Economic Council has endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s proposal to overhaul training institutions of security agencies in Nigeria, including the Nigeria Police Force and other sister agencies.
The project, which aims to renovate, remodel, and re-equip these institutions, received the council’s approval during its 153rd meeting at the State House in Abuja.
A committee, chaired by Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, has been set up to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the training institutions.
Other members of the committee include Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, and Governor Sule Abdullahi of Nasarawa State, with former Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, serving as secretary.
The NEC also resolved that state governors should collaborate with the Federal Government in the overhaul project, which is expected to enhance the capacity of security agencies in the country.
