Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State have distanced themselves from the party’s national convention in Ibadan, citing exclusion of Governor Siminalayi Fubara from consultations.
The faction, led by several state executive members and local government chairpersons, claims the national leadership failed to communicate with Fubara, their undisputed leader, before announcing the convention.
The Rivers PDP cites the party’s national leadership crisis and ongoing lawsuits as reasons for their non-participation.
Despite conflicting court judgments, preparations for the convention are underway in Ibadan.
