The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has directed all public senior secondary schools in Abuja to shut down on or before Friday, November 28, citing urgent security concerns.

This decision was made in response to rising insecurity in the country, with recent abductions and attacks on schools in various states.

In a memo, the FCT Secondary Education Board instructed principals and heads of schools to end all academic activities immediately and ensure students are dismissed safely.

Schools have also been directed to notify learners, staff, and parents, and adjust scheduled academic activities.

This move follows similar actions by other state governments, including Taraba, Plateau, and Katsina, which have ordered school closures due to security threats.

The Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board has directed the immediate closure of all primary and junior secondary schools, citing the urgent need for preventive action.
