Armed bandits launched a brazen attack on the Gaa Fulani community in Iye-Mero, Ekiti State, on Wednesday evening, abducting several residents and looting valuables.
The attack, which occurred between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., threw the quiet border community into panic.
However, local security operatives and soldiers stationed in the area swiftly responded, engaging the bandits in a protracted gunfight.
The attackers were eventually overpowered, and all kidnapped victims were rescued alive.
The incident highlights concerns about porous forest routes exploited by armed groups moving across Ekiti, Kwara, and Kogi states.
