Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death of the state’s deputy governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who collapsed and died in his office on Thursday.
The deputy governor was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Governor Diri warned against politicizing Ewhrudjakpo’s death, appealing for calm and respect for the deceased.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan, who visited the Government House in Yenagoa, described Ewhrudjakpo as humble, hardworking, and widely respected, adding that his work ethic was a lesson for public office holders.
