The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the final draw for the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) will take place in Rabat, Morocco, on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

CAF disclosed this in a statement published on its website on Wednesday, noting that the draw will begin at 2:00 p.m. local time (13:00 GMT / 15:00 Cairo).

The continental body also revealed that the ceremony will feature the announcement of winners in key women’s football award categories, including the CAF Women’s Coach of the Year, alongside other honours.

According to CAF, the 2026 tournament will mark a historic milestone, as it will feature an expanded 16-team format for the first time.

The qualified teams are hosts Morocco, Nigeria, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zambia.

Ahead of the draw, CAF will also announce winners in three women’s football award categories: Women’s Coach of the Year, Women’s Interclub Player of the Year, and Women’s Club of the Year.

These awards were initially scheduled to be presented at the CAF Awards ceremony on November 19, 2025, but were postponed as the Women’s Football season was still ongoing due to the CAF Women’s Champions League.

CAF recently reopened voting for the three categories, stressing that while it does not participate in the voting process, it oversees and coordinates it.

Voting for the Women’s Interclub Player of the Year will involve media representatives, captains, and coaches participating in the CAF Women’s Champions League. The Women’s Coach of the Year will be decided by votes from the media and coaches of CAF member associations, while the Women’s Club of the Year will be determined by the media and the CAF Women’s Technical Committee.
