President Yoweri Museveni, 81, was declared the winner with 71.6% of the vote, extending his rule into a fifth decade.

The opposition, led by Bobi Wine, has rejected the results, alleging mass fraud and intimidation.

Internet service providers, including Airtel Uganda, have confirmed the restoration, but social media platforms remain blocked.

The Uganda Communications Commission cited “misinformation, disinformation, electoral fraud and related risks” as reasons for the shutdown.

Election observers have criticized the move, saying it limited access to information and created suspicion and mistrust in the electoral process.
