Diezani Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s former Petroleum Minister and ex-OPEC President, is facing a corruption trial in London.
The 65-year-old is accused of accepting bribes worth millions of pounds during her tenure from 2010 to 2015. Alison-Madueke has pleaded not guilty to six counts of bribery.
The trial, expected to last 10-12 weeks, will examine allegations of luxury benefits, including private jet flights, high-end properties, and designer gifts, provided by individuals seeking favorable treatment in oil contracts.
Two others, Doye Agama and Olatimbo Ayinde, are also facing bribery charges linked to the case.
