Abdulrasheed Maina, former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Force, was rushed to a private hospital in Abuja on Tuesday evening after he slumped while trying to access his office premises.
According to his media assistant, Emmanuel Ekwe, Maina’s collapse was due to complications from an untreated knee injury, which caused him to lose balance and hit his head on a staircase.
Medical personnel at the scene quickly administered first aid before taking him to the hospital for urgent medical attention. Maina is currently receiving intensive care and remains under observation.
His doctors have advised that an air ambulance evacuation might be necessary if his condition doesn’t stabilize soon.
Maina’s family has appealed for privacy and prayers during this critical time, and updates will be provided as developments unfold.
The former pension boss is known for his controversial role in Nigeria’s pension reforms and has been involved in high-profile corruption cases.
