Former Benue Governor and Senator Gabriel Suswam has resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), citing the party’s ongoing internal crisis and dysfunction.
In a letter addressed to Mbagber Council Ward, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, Suswam stated that the party’s persistent conflicts and lack of resolution had made it impossible for him to continue as a member.
Suswam, who served as governor of Benue State and senator, expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had received from the party, but said he could no longer reconcile his membership with his personal convictions and desire to contribute to nation-building.
He described the PDP as being in a state of “deep internal dysfunction” and “perpetually trapped in crisis mode”.
The resignation comes amid ongoing tensions within the PDP, with recent reports of infighting between prominent party members, including Governors Seyi Makinde and Nyesom Wike.
