Access Bank Plc has paid glowing tribute to its former Group Managing Director, Dr. Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe, two years after his passing, while also honouring the memory of his wife, Doreen, and their son, Chizi.

In a statement shared on the bank’s official X handle on Monday, Access Bank said Dr. Wigwe’s influence continues to shape the institution’s culture, values, and long-term vision.

“Two years on, the absence of Dr. Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe remains deeply felt across the organisation and the wider financial community,” the statement read.

The bank described him as a visionary leader who steered Access Bank with courage, clarity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, noting that his legacy lives on in the standards the institution upholds and the future it continues to build.

Access Bank also remembered the loss of Dr. Wigwe’s wife, Doreen, and their son, Chizi, describing their passing as profound and deeply felt by all who knew them.

“As we remember Dr. Wigwe today, we also remember his beloved wife, Doreen, and their son, Chizi. Their loss is profound, and they remain forever in our hearts,” the statement added.

The bank noted that Dr. Wigwe played a pivotal role in shaping Access Bank’s identity and growth, helping transform it into one of Nigeria’s most respected financial institutions. Under his leadership, Access Bank became widely recognised for its innovation, integrity, and commitment to service, leaving a lasting impact on the banking sector and the broader business community.
