Award-winning Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has signed a landmark deal with the Benin Republic government to co-produce a large-scale Orisha/Vodun-themed TV series.
The partnership aims to merge Nigerian and Beninese cultural narratives, creating a story for international audiences.
The project will employ advanced production techniques, including AI for pre-visualisation and virtual environments.
Afolayan, known for elevating Nollywood’s production standards, has expanded his influence with projects like Aníkúlápó and Recall, distributed on Netflix.
This collaboration highlights Afolayan’s growing global impact, building on his reputation for harmonising entertainment with social commentary.
