The Department of State Services (DSS) will arraign former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on February 25, 2026, over alleged cybercrime and breach of national security.
El-Rufai is accused of intercepting the phone conversation of National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and will face a three-count charge before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The DSS alleges that El-Rufai’s actions contravened the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Amendment Act, 2024, and the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003.
El-Rufai was taken into custody by the DSS on February 18, after spending two nights with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He is also being held by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged corruption during his tenure as Kaduna Governor.
