The Federal Government of Nigeria has advised its citizens living in Iran and surrounding Gulf nations to take extra security precautions due to escalating military tensions in the region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued the advisory following reports of airstrikes targeting sites in Iranian cities, with explosions and plumes of smoke observed in the capital.
Nigerians in affected areas are urged to remain alert, avoid strategic or sensitive locations, and limit non-essential movement.
They are also advised to comply with local security agencies’ instructions and stay informed through reliable news sources.
Diplomatic missions, including the Nigerian Embassy in Tehran, have been placed on high alert to assist citizens.
The government appeals to parties involved in the conflict to de-escalate hostilities and return to negotiations, emphasizing the importance of diplomacy in addressing security challenges.
