Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
In a letter dated April 3, Yusuf expressed his desire to represent the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The move was confirmed by Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to the late president, who revealed that Yusuf’s decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders.
Yusuf’s declaration marks his most prominent political move since his father’s departure from office.
The APC stakeholders in Sandamu Local Government Area have endorsed Yusuf as their preferred candidate, citing his perceived capacity and acceptance among party stakeholders.
However, some party members have expressed concerns over the alleged imposition of candidates, with some accusing Governor Dikko Radda of backing Yusuf as a “thank you” gift to his father.
