The win ended Sevilla’s run of three consecutive league defeats and boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation in LaLiga.

Adams made the difference early in the match, converting a VAR-awarded penalty in the opening minutes after a foul on Isaac Romero. Although Atlético goalkeeper Juan Musso got a hand to the effort, the Nigerian striker’s finish proved enough to give Sevilla the lead.

The goal marked Adams’ seventh league strike of the season and set the tone for a tense encounter in which Sevilla ultimately held firm.

Atlético Madrid responded in the 35th minute through Javier Boñar, who scored on his senior debut, but Sevilla regained the advantage just before halftime when Nemanja Gudelj converted from a set piece.

In the second half, Atlético introduced Ademola Lookman in the 71st minute, but he was unable to influence the game, while Chidera Ejuke remained an unused substitute for Sevilla.

Adams recorded one shot on target, completed eight of 10 passes, and was involved in key attacking actions as Sevilla managed the game after the break.

The result lifts Sevilla further away from the relegation zone, with Adams’ performance reinforcing his importance in their fight for survival.
