The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expelled its factional chairman Nafiu Bala and House of Representatives member Leke Abejide over alleged anti-party activities.

The decision was taken at the party’s national convention in Abuja, which was presided over by former Senate President David Mark.

Other expelled members include Kingsley Temitope, Norman Obinna, Kennedy Odion and Stella Chukwuma.

The motion for their expulsion was moved by Senator Binos Yaroe and seconded by Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki during the convention proceedings.

The party said the affected individuals were removed over actions it described as attempts to destabilise its structure and create internal confusion.

The development comes amid an ongoing leadership crisis within the ADC, following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s removal of some party leaders, including David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, from its official register after a court ruling.

The dispute traces back to the prolonged leadership tussle involving former national chairman Ralph Nwosu.

The party is currently divided into rival factions led by David Mark, Nafiu Bala and Dumebi Kachikwu, raising concerns about its unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
