Boko Haram Attack on Chad Military Base Kills 23, Injures 26

Boko Haram militants attacked a military base in Chad’s Lake Chad region on Monday night, killing at least 23 security personnel and injuring 26 others, the army said on Tuesday.

The army said it repelled the attack and that operations to clear the area are underway.

Boko Haram militants have since 2009 expanded from northeast Nigeria into western Chad, where attacks on military installations have become increasingly frequent.

Chad’s President Mahamat Idriss Deby condemned the attack in a statement posted on Facebook.
