“With a heavy heart and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I announce the passing of Hon. Mohammad Wanzam, member representing Sakwa Constituency. Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un,” the statement said.

Sulaiman described Zaki as a committed legislator and public servant who gave meaningful service to both his constituency and Bauchi State. The Speaker led prayers at the late lawmaker’s funeral, which was held Sunday at the Gwallaga Juma’at Mosque in Bauchi. He prayed for Allah’s mercy, forgiveness, and for Zaki to be granted Aljannatul Firdaus.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed also mourned the lawmaker. In a condolence message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor called Zaki’s death “a painful loss” to the state.

Governor Mohammed praised Zaki’s humility, diligence, maturity, and patriotism, noting his key role in legislative oversight and policy formulation as Budget and Appropriation Chairman.

“His death is a great loss not only to his family and constituents but also to the entire Bauchi State. We have lost a dependable legislator, a bridge-builder, and a man whose humility and dedication earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and citizens alike,” the governor said.

He urged Bauchi residents to emulate Zaki’s legacy of selfless service and prayed for the late lawmaker’s eternal rest.
