Nigeria’s Shukurat Oladipo has been crowned the Best Defender of the 2025/26 Serie A Femminile season after an outstanding campaign with AS Roma Women.

The Super Falcons centre-back was also named in the league’s Team of the Season following her impressive displays that helped Roma secure the Serie A Femminile title for the third time in the club’s history.

The 21-year-old featured in 18 league matches and played a crucial role in Roma’s defensive solidity throughout the campaign. Oladipo impressed with her composure on the ball, physical presence, and defensive contributions, including interceptions, tackles, recoveries, and duels.

Roma enjoyed an impressive defensive record with the Nigerian on the pitch, conceding just nine goals in her 18 appearances. The club also remained unbeaten in league matches involving Oladipo and recorded eight clean sheets during that period.

Her performances were recognised during the league’s awards ceremony on Monday, where she claimed the Best Defender prize and was one of four Roma players selected in the Team of the Season.

The Team of the Season includes Como goalkeeper Astrid Gilardi, while Oladipo is joined in defence by Estela Carbonell of Juventus, Ivana Andrés of Inter Milan, and Caterina Ambrosi of Parma.

Roma players Manuela Giugliano, Giulia Dragoni and Giada Greggi occupy the midfield positions, while Tessa Wullaert, Martina Piemonte and Cecilie Fløe complete the attacking line.

Despite her remarkable breakthrough season, Oladipo still has another opportunity to add silverware to her campaign as Roma prepare to face Juventus in the Coppa Italia final.

The highly anticipated encounter is scheduled to take place at Stadio Romeo Menti on Sunday, May 24.
