Defending champions Anders Lind and Honoka Hashimoto are on the verge of making history at the WTT Contender Lagos after both reached the singles finals with the chance to become the first players to successfully defend their titles.

Denmark’s Anders Lind, last year’s men’s singles champion, battled through a tense semi-final to defeat Korea Republic’s Lim Jonghoon 3–2 and book his place in another final. The 2025 winner, who previously overcame Croatia’s Tomislav Pucar to claim the crown, now stands one win away from becoming the first man to win consecutive titles in Lagos since the tournament began in 2023.

He will face Korea Republic’s Oh Junsung, who impressed in his debut appearance by beating India’s Manush Shah 3–1 in the semi-finals to reach his first WTT Contender final.

In the women’s singles, Japan’s Honoka Hashimoto continued her strong run with a dominant 3–0 victory over Korea Republic’s Cheonhui Joo to reach the final without dropping a set in the last four.

Hashimoto, who stunned the field on her Lagos debut last year by defeating India’s Sreeja Akula to win the title, is now aiming to become the first woman to successfully defend the crown.

She will face top seed and compatriot Satsuki Odo, who advanced after a 3–1 win over fellow Japanese player Hitomi Sato. Odo, the highest-ranked player in the tournament, brings strong attacking form into what promises to be a high-quality final.

Both finals set up a historic conclusion to the tournament, with Lind and Hashimoto chasing back-to-back titles while their challengers look to spoil the party.
