A foundation to preserve the legacy of former President Muhammadu Buhari was unveiled on Monday in Abuja, marking one year since his death.
President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, said public officeholders should emulate Buhari’s values of honesty, simplicity and self-discipline.

“President Buhari gave everything he had to this country, and he gave it without reservation. He served with courage, with conviction, and with a patriotism that never asked what the nation could return to him,” Tinubu said.
He described Buhari as a patriot whose transition from military ruler to democratically elected president set him apart. According to Tinubu, Buhari’s greatest legacy was the consistency of his principles and personal conduct in public service.

Tinubu also assured Aisha Buhari and members of the family of the federal government’s continued support.
Former Head of State Yakubu Gowon said the turnout at Buhari’s burial reflected the respect he commanded within and outside Nigeria.
Boss Mustapha, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said the foundation was initiated by Buhari’s family and associates to uphold his legacy of service, sacrifice and dedication to Nigeria. He noted that sustaining those ideals rests on political leaders and all Nigerians committed to peaceful coexistence and national development.
