The Super Falcons have intensified preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, with only six of the 25 invited players yet to report to the team’s training camp in Casablanca.
According to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), 19 players had arrived in camp as of Sunday, while head coach Justine Madugu supervised a training session involving 15 players at the La Noria Club.
The team’s camp received a further boost with the arrival of BK Hacken duo Halimatu Ayinde and Joy Omewa, while experienced defender Osinachi Ohale and forward Chinwendu Ihezuo were expected to join the squad shortly after travelling from their respective clubs.
Among the players already in camp are captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defenders Shukurat Oladipo, Rofiat Imuran, Glory Ogbonna, Oluwatosin Demehin and Sikiratu Isah, midfielder Christy Ucheibe, Toni Payne, Jennifer Echegini, and forwards Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega and Omorinsola Babajide. Goalkeepers Comfort Erhabor and Fatima Oloko have also linked up with the team.
The remaining six players expected in camp are defender Michelle Alozie, midfielder Deborah Abiodun, and forwards Gift Monday, Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi and Uchenna Kanu.
With the majority of the squad now assembled, preparations have gathered momentum as the defending champions fine-tune tactics ahead of the continental tournament.
Nigeria will begin their Group B campaign against Malawi on July 28 before taking on the other teams in the group as they bid to retain the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title.
