Abdullahi Muhammad Dabo is home after spending two weeks with suspected bandits.
Dabo was abducted on July 3, 2026 along the Bakori–Guga Road in Katsina State. His release was confirmed on Friday by conflict reporter Bakatsine in a post on X.
Photos shared online showed the toll of his time in captivity. An image taken before the abduction showed him healthy, while a newer photo after his release showed noticeable weight loss.
Other people close to him also announced the news. Digital creator Abubakar Lawal posted on Thursday saying, “My brother, Abdullahi Muhammad Dabo, who was kidnapped, has now been freed,” and thanked supporters for their prayers and financial help.
Shehu Hassan, who first reported the kidnapping, also confirmed the release on Facebook. “Alhamdulillah! By the grace of God, he saved our brother ABDULLAHI MUHAMMAD DABO from the hands of gunmen bandits!!” he wrote, adding prayers for others still held.
The news has brought relief to Dabo’s family after weeks of uncertainty.
Authorities have not shared details about how he was released, including whether any ransom was paid.
Kidnappings for ransom remain a major challenge across the country, with many other victims still in captivity.
