Team Nigeria has emerged as Africa’s best-performing nation after seven days of competition at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
According to the National Sports Commission, Nigeria has won 16 medals, comprising eight gold, five silver and three bronze, placing the country fifth on the overall medal table.

The medals have come across five sports, including para powerlifting, weightlifting, athletics, boxing and 3×3 basketball.
The commission said Nigerian athletes have delivered a series of historic victories and impressive performances since the Games began, putting the country in a strong position among the leading nations.
With the competition entering its final stages, Team Nigeria will be hoping to increase its medal haul before the Games conclude in Glasgow.
