Nigeria and the United States have commenced high-level security discussions in Washington, D.C., aimed at strengthening counterterrorism cooperation and expanding bilateral security collaboration.
National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu is leading a delegation of senior Nigerian government and security officials at the United States-Nigeria Joint Working Group meeting.
The discussions are focused on reviewing progress made in existing counterterrorism cooperation between the two countries and identifying new areas for deeper security collaboration.
Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, is among the senior Nigerian security officials participating in the talks.
The meeting comes as both countries intensify efforts to improve coordination in tackling terrorism and other security threats affecting Nigeria and the wider region.
The engagement is expected to further strengthen intelligence sharing, operational cooperation and other joint security initiatives between Nigeria and the United States.
