Despite its regional triumph, Cape Town International Airport saw a modest decline in its global ranking, currently standing at 54th place.

This shift contrasts sharply with its earlier position, having held the 23rd spot in 2020. This fluctuation underscores the dynamic nature of international air travel and the evolving standards upheld by aviation industry stakeholders.

Meanwhile, fellow South African airports also earned commendations in the survey, with Durban’s King Shaka International Airport securing the second spot and OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg claiming third place on the continental list.

This regional dominance highlights the overall high standards maintained by airports in South Africa, affirming their reputation as pivotal gateways to the African continent.

Beyond South Africa’s borders, the Ethiopian capital’s airport, Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, secured a respectable seventh place within the African rankings.

Addis Ababa’s aviation sector has undergone significant expansion in recent years, reflecting Ethiopia’s emergence as a regional hub for international travel and trade.

Further north, Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport secured the 10th position, exemplifying Kenya’s enduring role in African aviation. Nairobi, as East Africa’s primary aviation hub, continues to play a vital role in connecting the region to the global air transport network.

The Skytrax survey underscores the broader trends shaping the African aviation landscape, where airports strive to enhance passenger experiences and operational efficiency amidst a backdrop of evolving industry dynamics and heightened traveler expectations.
