Nigeria U-17 Head Coach, Manu Garba has revealed that the Golden Eaglets are making strides to assemble a formidable squad poised to represent Nigeria at the WAFU championship.

Garba, who won the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup, urges Nigerians to dismiss rumors of widespread failures in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) tests within his team. Instead, he assures that his coaching staff will craft a roster to secure a berth at next year’s Africa U17 Cup of Nations from the Ghana tournament.

Addressing concerns over MRI results, Garba clarifies that players who failed to meet the stipulated Grade 1-4 requirements were promptly excluded from the camp. He emphasizes the importance of integrity in the testing process, highlighting the expulsion of players whose MRI results did not align with the NFF’s standards.

Garba refutes claims of chaos in the camp due to MRI outcomes, expressing confidence in the team’s prospects as they gear up for the WAFU B U17 tournament in Accra, Ghana. Preparations include an additional MRI test by CAF’s medical team before the tournament kicks off. The defending champions of the WAFU B U17 Championship are set to face Burkina Faso on May 16 in the first match.

Having played nine friendlies, with six victories, two draws, and one loss, the team is honing their skills for the challenge ahead.
