The federal government has withdrawn its plan to sell subsidized 50-kilogram bags of rice to public servants at N40,000. The decision was announced in a circular titled “Withdrawal of Internal Circular on Sale of Subsidized Rice to Public Servants,” signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs Human Resources Management Department.

The circular, addressed to Directors and Heads of Departments, stated that the previous circular ordering the sale of the rice at the specified price is now rescinded. No reasons were provided for the cancellation in the circular.
