The Nigeria U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, received the Fair Play Trophy at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which concluded on Sunday in the Dominican Republic. North Korea claimed the championship after a dramatic 4-3 penalty shootout win over Spain in the final.

Despite Nigeria’s quarterfinal exit following a 2-0 loss to the USA, Bankole Olowookere’s squad was recognized for their exemplary discipline, finishing with the best record for fair play across four matches, which included group stage games against New Zealand, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic.
