The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), popularly known as KAI, apprehended 49 individuals during an overnight operation aimed at improving security and maintaining order in Ikoyi and Victoria Island.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, detailed that the operation, conducted on Monday night, targeted key areas including Idowu Martins, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Akin Adesola, Samuel Manuwa, Muri Okunola, Ajose Adeogun, Lugard Avenue, and Macdonald Road.

“The operation aimed to enhance security and maintain order across these neighborhoods. During the patrols, 49 miscreants and illegal street traders were apprehended, reinforcing our commitment to ensuring a safe and orderly environment for residents and businesses,” Wahab said.
The commissioner emphasized LAGESC’s dedication to maintaining Lagos as a secure and orderly city, noting that the patrols have already started yielding positive results.
“I am pleased to report that calm and sanity are gradually returning to Ikoyi and Victoria Island,” Wahab stated. He also encouraged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to authorities, highlighting the importance of community cooperation in fostering safer environments.
“Your continued cooperation is vital—if you notice any suspicious activity, do not hesitate to report it. Together, we can build safer communities,” he added.
