Seven travellers have reportedly been abducted by gunmen in the Sabon Borno area of Sokoto State.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency publication focusing on the Lake Chad region, the incident occurred early Tuesday morning when armed men intercepted a commercial vehicle near Chin Golf village.
The victims, consisting of six women and the driver, were forced out of the vehicle and taken into the nearby forest. I
Intelligence sources suspect the perpetrators are linked to Turji Bello, a notorious bandit leader operating in the region.
This abduction adds to a troubling trend of rising insecurity across Nigeria. On December 22, gunmen reportedly kidnapped 18 travellers in Emure Ile, Ekiti State. The attackers ambushed a vehicle en route to Ado-Ekiti, seizing all passengers and later demanding a ransom of N30 million per victim.
Earlier, on December 10, at least 43 individuals were abducted in Kakidawa, Goga district of Maradun LGA in Zamfara State.
Armed men stormed the community at night, firing indiscriminately and conducting house-to-house searches, capturing women and children who couldn’t escape. No ransom demand has been reported in that case.
These recurring abductions highlight the escalating security crisis in the country, leaving citizens in fear and demanding urgent government intervention.
