Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has revealed that he wanted the outright removal of Siminalayi Fubara as Governor of Rivers State, but President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in the state effectively saved Fubara’s job.
Speaking at a media chat in Abuja, Wike said Tinubu did the right thing by intervening in Rivers State, where Fubara’s government has been facing challenges.
Wike praised Tinubu, saying people should thank him for saving them, adding that Fubara’s government was “gone” before the president’s intervention.
