Alabi Quadri, a teenager who gained notoriety after appearing in a viral photograph with Peter Obi during the 2023 election campaign, has shared his harrowing experience while in detention at the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison.

Quadri claims he was picked up by police after a conflict broke out in his area and was subsequently arrested and remanded.

According to Quadri, his troubles began after the viral photo surfaced, and he was allegedly targeted by unknown individuals.

While in prison, he was forced to clean up faeces from morning until evening due to his inability to pay the marshall.

The Lagos State Police Command, however, claims Quadri was arrested and remanded for alleged public disturbance and robbery.

Quadri was released on April 17 after spending several months in jail.

Quadri’s story highlights concerns about police brutality and the treatment of detainees in Nigerian prisons.

His experience has sparked outrage and calls for reform in the country’s justice system.
