The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has thwarted a desperate attempt by a woman to export large consignments of cocaine to Iran at the Port Harcourt International Airport in Rivers State.
Ihensekhien Miracle Obehi, dressed in a hijab to evade security checks, was intercepted on May 3, 2025, while trying to board a Qatar Airline flight to Iran via Doha.
A search revealed that she had concealed three wraps of cocaine in her private part, two large parcels in false compartments of her handbag, and had swallowed 67 pellets of the Class A drug.
After being placed under excretion observation, she expelled the 67 wraps of cocaine from her stomach.
The total weight of the cocaine was 2.523 kilograms.
Obehi claimed she was supposed to swallow 70 pellets but couldn’t ingest the remaining three, so she inserted them into her private part instead.
The NDLEA also reported two other successful operations, intercepting a British national with 37.60kg of cannabis at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos and seizing 3,047 kilograms of cannabis in Niger State.
