The prosecution in the terrorism trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has concluded its case after presenting five witnesses. The move comes after the fifth prosecution witness testified and was cross-examined by Kanu’s lawyer, Onyechi Ikpeazu.

Prosecuting lawyer Adegboyega Awomolo stated that the prosecution is satisfied with the evidence presented and exhibits tendered, and therefore closes its case.

Following the prosecution’s announcement, Kanu’s lead defense counsel, Kanu Agabi, informed the court that the defendant plans to file a no-case submission. The trial revolves around terrorism charges brought against Kanu, who has been in detention for four years.

His legal team has raised objections to the trial’s legitimacy, citing jurisdictional and procedural issues.
