Rano Air Limited has confirmed that one of its planes, flying from Abuja to Sokoto, experienced an engine malfunction mid-air on Sunday.
However, the airline assured that no lives were lost and no passenger or crew member sustained any injuries.
Passengers reportedly noticed smoke in the cabin and flight deck, prompting the crew to activate emergency procedures and deploy oxygen masks.
The pilot managed to land the aircraft safely at Sokoto Airport.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has grounded the aircraft for a thorough investigation, and Rano Air’s engineers are working to determine the root cause of the incident.
