The Nigerian Army’s 25 Task Force Brigade came under a deadly ambush by Boko Haram terrorists on Friday in Borno State.

The patrol team, led by Brigadier General M. Uba, was returning from a successful clearance mission around Sambisa Forest when insurgents opened heavy fire, triggering a fierce gun battle.

Despite the surprise attack, the troops, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), responded with superior firepower, breaking through the ambush and forcing the attackers to flee.

However, two soldiers and two CJTF members were killed in the confrontation, and some motorcycles were taken by the terrorists.

The Army High Command has commiserated with the families of the fallen fighters, praising their courage and sacrifice.

The military has also debunked claims that Brigadier General Uba was abducted during the attack, calling it fake news.

Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu has hailed the troops for their resilience and bravery, reaffirming the Army’s determination to sustain aggressive operations against insurgents in Borno State.
