A cleric, Ladan Zubairu, was killed while calling Muslims to prayer at Yusuf Garko Mosque in Kano’s Maraba Quarters on Monday morning.
The suspect, who allegedly slit the cleric’s throat, was pursued and killed by a mob, and his residence was set on fire.
Police intervened to restore order, and an investigation is underway.
The Kano State Police Commissioner has ordered a thorough probe, and authorities have urged residents to remain calm and provide any relevant information.
