Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has forcefully denied claims by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde that he promised to “hold the PDP” for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election, calling the allegation a “blatant lie” and “very unfair” [1, 2, 3].

During a media chat, Wike clarified that a post-election meeting he and other former G-5 governors, including Makinde, had with President Tinubu was a courtesy visit, not a political negotiation.

He questioned why Makinde failed to report the alleged deal to the party sooner and suggested the governor’s claim stems from “frustration” and an undeclared presidential ambition. Wike added that Makinde is a “baby in politics” who doesn’t understand its rules and whose ambition has plunged the PDP into crisis.
