President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s security framework, pledging continued investment in the armed forces to tackle terrorism and banditry across the country.

Speaking on Friday during a visit to Bayelsa State, where he commissioned key infrastructure projects, Tinubu assured Nigerians that his government would prioritise equipping and training security personnel to confront evolving threats.

“We will continue to equip and train our men and women of the armed forces. We will defeat terrorism and banditry,” the president said.

He also emphasised his administration’s focus on delivering visible development through infrastructure and economic opportunities, noting that governance must translate into tangible benefits for citizens.

“People deserve to see governance reflected in roads, bridges, power, jobs, and real opportunities that impact lives and drive national development,” he added.

During the event, the president called for a moment of reflection in honour of fallen soldiers and notable national figures, acknowledging their sacrifices to the nation.

Tinubu’s remarks come amid renewed security concerns following a recent attack on a military formation in Benisheikh, Borno State. Insurgents reportedly launched a coordinated assault on troops under Operation Hadin Kai but were repelled after a fierce battle, although some soldiers lost their lives.

The president’s assurances also follow a series of violent incidents across parts of the country, including Plateau, Benue, Yobe, and Kaduna states, where attacks by armed groups have resulted in multiple casualties.

Despite these challenges, the Federal Government has maintained that ongoing military operations are intensifying pressure on insurgents and bandits, while reiterating its commitment to restoring peace and stability nationwide.
