The African Democratic Congress has said President Bola Tinubu should brace for a strong challenge in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued by its spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the President would be confronted by millions of Nigerians struggling with economic hardship.

The ADC criticised Tinubu’s recent comments about the opposition, describing them as unpresidential and accusing him of prioritising politics over governance.

According to the party, rising poverty, inflation, and insecurity have worsened under current government policies, placing additional strain on citizens.

It also dismissed concerns surrounding its convention, maintaining that its internal processes were conducted in line with established procedures.

The party further alleged that Nigeria’s democratic space is shrinking, citing what it described as growing restrictions on political participation.

ADC accused the President of undermining the principle of separation of powers, warning that such actions could weaken democratic institutions.

It added that the party remains committed to presenting an alternative agenda focused on improving security, stabilising the economy, and strengthening democratic governance.
