The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has confirmed that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has purchased its presidential nomination form and received an official payment receipt ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a statement posted on its official X account on Saturday, the party said Atiku paid ₦90 million via bank draft for the presidential ticket, with the transaction acknowledged in Official Receipt No. 2881 dated May 8, 2026.
The ADC described the development as part of a broader political shift within the party, framing it as a significant step in its preparations for the next election cycle.
“H.E. Atiku Abubakar, GCON, has officially received his payment receipt to contest under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 Presidential Election,” the statement read.

It added that the move reflects what it called a growing push for “national renewal, democratic inclusion, and people-driven leadership” within the party.
The ADC also positioned itself as an emerging alternative in Nigeria’s opposition space, saying it remains committed to unity, economic recovery, security, and national development.

According to the party, the formal presentation of nomination forms is expected to take place on Monday at its national secretariat in Abuja.
The development marks one of the early high-profile political moves ahead of the 2027 election cycle, as parties begin to activate structures and consolidate support.
