President Bola Tinubu has appointed retired Major General Adeyinka A. Fadewa as Special Adviser on Homeland Security to strengthen intelligence coordination and inter-agency collaboration on internal security.

The appointment was announced Monday by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. SGF George Akume, through Permanent Secretary Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, said the move reflects the administration’s push for intelligence-driven operations to tackle emerging threats.

Fadewa, a military intelligence and counter-terrorism specialist with over 30 years’ experience, served as Principal General Staff Officer to the National Security Adviser at ONSA from 2015 to 2021. He spearheaded the creation of the Intelligence Fusion Centre, a platform linking the DIA, NIA, DSS, police, and armed forces for integrated threat assessment and response.

Since retiring, he worked as Senior Research Fellow at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre and authored Policing and National Security in Nigeria, which outlines frameworks for civil-security cooperation.

Tinubu said he expects Fadewa to bring strategic expertise to advance homeland security goals under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
